We've been quiet, for a while, and this blog post is just about one-year-to-the-day overdue. This time last year, we were living out our last days, for the foreseeable future, with Penny, parked on the beach in La Ventana. Since then, we've been attempting to assimilate to life off the road, which doesn't inspire the same spark to write as does traveling, kitesurfing and side-of-the-road repairs.

Our hot spring was nestled into a crevice between two mountains. Hot steaming water was steadily pouring down the rocks into the pool. The moon and a single star could be seen in the narrow view the two mountains and lush vegetation afforded us, while a steady pink glow flushed the clouds from the setting sun. A haze of steam was rising from the water and surrounded us. Some might call it romantic.

For Jacqui and I the evil, imaginary metronome that represents time was ticking. Last year after the Dolphin crashed and we purchased the then-unnamed PennyWagon, we got ourselves a one year Mexican Car Insurance plan, and now that year is drawing to a close.

Much transpired after leaving the butterfly sanctuary. It seems like every time Jacqui and I recount an event that happened weeks before we suddenly realize...That was yesterday?! Jacqui likes to tell me when you're creating new memories, time seems slower. I'm forced to agree.

Jacqui and I were all smiles to be back at Patzcuaro's one and only RV park. At this point we've dubbed it Mazatlan 2 and are hoping that Al and Marilyn won't have to call us the boomerang kids, though we seem to be right on track.

After Jacqui and I spent a quiet night sleeping out front of Rosa’s house, we woke to fulfill our promise of making Rosa coffee. However, she had some surprises for us. First off she prepared a traditional Mexican drink called elote. Elote is masa (cornmeal) mixed into warm water with a little sugar for taste. It’s incredibly healthy and reminded me of my mom making me Cream of Wheat when I was a kid. On top of that, we got a little lesson in making tortas. Not the sandwich as you may think, more of a traditional Mexican omelet. Jacqui and I will definitely be repeating both of these recipes down the road.
